he history of Grappa Libarna is deeply characterized by the territory in which it all originated: Piedmont, land of quality spirits, made from its famous and precious vines.

elle18.png

Born from the centuries-old experience of the Gambarotta Distillery, founded in 1832, Grappa Libarna takes its name from the Roman settlement of the same name in Serravalle Scrivia, from which the shape of the historic bottle that recalls the capitals of Roman columns takes its inspiration.

Today Grappa Libarna renews the tradition with a range of spirits that celebrate the vocation of the territory and the craftsmanship of distillation in copper stills.

HISTORY

THE METHOD

The very fresh pomace is distilled in a current of steam, according to an absolutely artisanal method, in discontinuous cycle copper  pot stills, under the careful watch of the Master Distiller.

Subsequently the alcoholic vapours, produced by the heating of the marc, are cooled and brought to a liquid state.

In this way, three parts are obtained:

the heads, which must be discarded because otherwise they would give a pungent scent to the grappa;

the heart, that is, the most highly prized part, the true essence

of our product;

the tails, which must be cut because

they are rich in substances which

would make the distillate
oily. The result is a grappa
with a lively scent and a
particularly sweet and clean taste.

BARRICATA

libarna2.png
libarnaL.png

According to the ancient tradition, the best fresh pomace of Moscato grapes alone is steam-distilled in copper stills. The resulting distillate is then aged in French oak barriques for a period of at least 12 months, to create a highly elegant and rounded grappa.

Obtained from the fresh pomace of Barbera and Dolcetto grapes only, which are steam distilled according to the artisanal method thanks to the experience of the Master Distiller.

The distillate is then aged for at least 18 months in French oak barriques to give rise to a highly structured and complex grappa.

The pomace of Nebbiolo grapes, which stem from the Langhe of Barolo, is distilled in a current of steam in copper stills in a discontinuous cycle, according to an ancient artisanal method, under the careful watch of the Master Distiller.

The distillate is finally aged for a period of no less than 18 months, of which 12 in tonneaux and the remaining 6 in French oak barriques. Aging in fine woods confers great nobility and intensity to this Riserva.
